"Been Told" Max B & Isaiah Toothtaker, via new service Legitmix

You should already know Chicago production duo The Hood Internet and their stable of cleverly-paired mixes. On this track they utilize Sleater-Kinney's "One Beat" for a track by the criminally awesome Max B & Isaiah Toothtaker, the first off of their upcoming Toothy Wavy EP.

You should also already know that I was making a bad pun, because Max B is in prison for the long-ass haul, appeal impending. So his verses are all phoned in. This works well with the slowed down "One Beat" sample, in a chill and rolling but in no way boring kind of way.. Get those "ooh whoas" stuck in your head rull quick.

Interestingly, this is one of the early releases from a beta version of Legitmix. It's a cool sounding service that splits the revenue between the sampled and the samplers, depending on the listener's existing music library. Props for a creative way of attempting to smooth out one of the many wrinkles in the digital music world.

The Legitmix post tells us that Mishka Records will be releasing the full EP in May, and will feature fuckin' Diplo (whut) and personal fav (everyone's personal fav) El-p.
